Introduction

The module unit is designed to equip the trainee with knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to use drawing principles in the design, preparation, interpretation and implementation of drawings used in building construction.

General objectives

By the end of the module unit, the trainee should be able to:

a) use drawings as a means of  communication

b) interpret working drawings prepared for implementation.

c) prepare working drawings.

This course aims at the fundamentals of Chemistry and Physics (basis for for practical application in building and civil engineering works).

This module is designed to equip the trainee with the basic principles of Chemistry and Physics applicable in building and civil engineering.

This module unit involves the study of soils and rock forming the earth's surface; the main raw materials for construction.

It's aimed at equiping the trainee with necessary knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to analyze the properties of soils and rocks for use in construction.

This module unit involves the study of the processes of establishing points on part of the Earth’s surface in relation to other points of known altitude and bearing.

This module is intended to equip the trainee with knowledge, skills and attitude necessary in computing heights of points and their bearings which is necessary in construction works.

General Objectives

a.       Understand working principles of survey instruments

b.      Carry out survey work to provide data for planning, design and construction of works

c.       Apply surveying skills to control construction works

d.      Appreciate modern technologies in surveying fields

Concrete technology deals with study of properties of concrete and its practical applications.

In a building construction, concrete is used for the construction of foundations, columns, beams, slabs and other load bearing elements.
